Children discover new ‘Floga’ exercise to celebrate book

Children have been performing a new kind of yoga in Liverpool this week to celebrate the launch of children’s book ‘Floga with Flossie’.
Written by bestselling Liverpool author Jude Lennon, the new picture book encourages young children to enjoy exercise.
Launched at Write Blend bookshop in Waterloo on Wednesday (21 June) to coincide with International Yoga Day, the book follows the adventures of Flossie the lamb and her friends as they discover the benefits of ‘Floga’ (a new take on yoga).
Miss Lennon, who runs storytelling business Little Lamb Tales, was joined at the book signing event by children from across the city, as well as fellow author and yoga instructor Marie Cope, who helped get children exercising by demonstrating some fun floga exercises.
Editor Sue Miller, of Team Author UK, who features in the book as character Farmer Miller, also attended the launch.
And, just one day after being released on Amazon, Floga with Flossie has rocketed straight into the Amazon charts to become a new Bestseller.
Miss Lennon, who taught for 18 years before setting up her professional storytelling business, said she was delighted with the new book and enjoyed sharing it with youngsters.
She said: “This is a great fun book following the adventures of Flossie the lamb and her friends as they discover a new form of exercise – ‘Floga’.
“It’s about promoting exercise, friendship and teamwork in a fun way to children and it was fantastic to finally share it with children.
“Everyone had a great time joining in with the ‘Floga’ moves and it really helped to demonstrate how much fun exercising together can be.
Just 30 minutes of exercise a day such as yoga or ‘Floga’ is great for the mind and can have a really positive impact on children’s overall well being.”
The author added: “I was overwhelmed to discover that just one day after being released on Amazon, the book had already become an Amazon Bestseller, so huge thanks to everyone who has supported me and Flossie by buying a copy of the book.”
Miss Lennon, who has published nine books and has recently been nominated for two Bizmum Awards – Creative Bizmum of the Year Award and Host of the Year Award –  has teamed up with Liverpool-based Mitchy Titch Yoga instructors and will be delivering storytelling sessions at classes over the next few months.
As well as writing books Miss Lennon, a member of Team Author UK,  also runs storytelling events and creative writing workshops within schools. She is currently touring schools across Liverpool as part of the Bobby Colleran road safety campaign.
Her book S.T.O.P (Superbob Tells Off Parents), which has been written in conjunction with the parents of six-year-old schoolboy Bobby Colleran – tragically killed outside his school in West Derby in 2014 – is the second book in the Superbob series and encourages parents to think about parking more safely outside schools.
